Pool heater & pool/spa contractors in Collier County

Search the contractor's name or license number on the Florida DBPR license lookup. Look for a current, active status and make sure the business name on your contract matches the licensed business.

Florida's pool/spa contractor licenses (commercial, residential and servicing) all include pool heater work in their scope under section 489.105, Florida Statutes. Ask each contractor whether they install and service the specific heater type and brand you want. See our hiring guide.

Rules vary by city and county. Installing new equipment often involves building, electrical or gas permits, so check with your local building department. Your licensed contractor normally applies for the permit; ask for the permit number and keep the final inspection record.

Each has trade-offs. Gas heaters heat quickly and hold temperature in any weather; heat pumps usually cost more up front but have lower running costs; solar has low operating costs but depends on sunshine. Read our heat pump vs. gas guide.
